Yes yes, I am back after a nearly year-long hiatus. My book's manuscript is nearly ready for the publisher which means I have some time to kill now since I'm not busy coding, editing, or writing.
NaNoMangO!
So what time is better for me to join the NaNoMangO, the comic version of the NaNoWriMo! The jist is to pencil out 30 pages in 30 days (i.e. the entire month of November). Inking isn't necessary, but since I'll be doing it all via the computer & tablet, "inking" isn't so difficult. The pages will update daily on my Drunk Duck account: www.drunkduck.com/Momiji/index.php
I'll update this page with illustrations and extras as the comic progresses. Should be fuuuuun!
Conventions:
Artist Allies aren't in my future for the next five months, but I am planning on visiting a few conventions in the meantime as an attendee. It looks like I'll be at SugoiCon 2009, Anime Crossroads 2009, and Ohayocon 2010. I look forward to meeting all the new people!
Cheers,
Kat

Yet again I forgot to update this here bloggy!
Ikasucon went over well (nearly a month ago now), Miss Grey was well received and I actually ran out of comics to sell there! Thank you everyone who visited my table! I love meeting people who are as interested in manga as I am! I also ran into a lot of people who are interested in starting up their own web comics, I'm cheering you on!
I've been in talks with Schiffer Ltd. about publishing a book for them next year. They liked the proposal I sent them, and now I'm waiting for the second step in the process. When everything becomes official I'll let everyone know.
I'm also working on putting together a Manga Pilot for the Tokyopop Pilot Program they are running on their site. I think it has replaced their Rising Stars of Manga competition because it is easier (and cheaper) to publish unknown works on the interwebs than it is to print them and have none of them sell. Those who get a pilot of course don't get paid very much, but it is a step in the right direction for those interested in becoming full fledged illustrators/writers. It's like an internship, you get paid with dirt but the experience is everything.
Something else I want to do is establish a manga-ka circle here in Cincinnati. There was one for comics once-upon-a-time, but it seems to have died. I'm sure if I established such a meeting so everyone can meet each other, we would get a turnout. I mean, I've met plenty of girls who are interested in Lolita fashion around here, and that's a tiny subset of J-street fashion. I'm sure there are more kids around here that are interested in manga and want to become illustrators. But I guess before I put together such a thing, I should become a professional myself b/c just having a web-comic doesn't make me a bad-ass.
Now to put something up for people to see:

I drew this last week I think, God time goes by quickly. For thouse not in the know, this is my lead character in my webcomic, Miss Grey. I personally like the image, it is interesting to look at with a little bit of macbre mixed in.
Well that's all for now, I need to get ready to go out drinking w/ people (I think hell just froze over).

BLAH
I have one week now to get my act together for Ikasucon. I have all the lolita accessories for the AA done, but I'm still working on Fan art and MG stuff for the table. I'm surprised my wrist doesn't hurt yet from all the illustrating I'm doing.
I can really say that I'm not ready for Ikasucon. The move last month really put me behind in my preparations. What makes matters worse is that I only found my Copic markers last week! So I have a bunch of line art to color in.
On a lighter note, all the preperations for the Lolita Tea party I'm hosting at Ikasu are done. I just basically need to show up for it. That makes me excited b/c there are a bunch of tape to get through just to get food brought into the convention center. But the Ikasu staff are great to work with!
Now I just wait for the Candy Violet skirt I ordered to arrive this upcoming week.
Back to work for me~
